The big news in 2023 was Anjanette's Engagement to Adam. The wedding is scheduled for August 25th in Carmel. The year 2023 has been a year of remembering Cameron and integrating his legacy into our lives. He left behind his partner Cynthia, a dog, a lot of friends, great memories and a lot of hardware, 10 vehicles and tools. Our distraction for the year was to take up sewing.
Nate and Brianna, came out from Boston for the Holidays. We had a great barbecue Christmas meal and watched the 49ers get trounced by the Ravens. Nate and Bri went south and checked out Universal Studios Nintendo world. Had a good time as you can see.
Diane and Nanette at one of the Angwin Parties.
Rocky has been the biggest disruption of our routine this year but, mostly good. He walks me 4 miles a day and wants attention the rest of the time. He has gained 7 lbs since we got him from Cameron at the beginning of the year. He is now 77 lbs and all muscle. He's a Boxweiller, exactly 50/50 Boxer/Rotweiller. He has a great friendly temperment and runs like a gazelle. The exercise I get walking with him has been very beneficial to my health/stamina and balance. This is just one of the gifts Cameron left behind.
Below is one of the last pictures I have of Cameron from August of 2022. We miss him but, also remember him fondly every day.
I sewed this shirt from scratch and wear it when I want to remember Cameron and his motoring. His name is embroidered onto the shirt tail.
Here I am on the 2007 Vespa LX150 that Cameron left behind. It required a variety of parts including a new carburetor, mirrors, headlamp, reflectors, tires, turn signal switch and lens. It runs well so I had to get a motorcycle license to drive it around. Seems like an odd thing to do but, it has enabled me to join the society of motorcyclists and understand what it means. I feel closer to Cameron as a result. Motorcycling was not the cause of his death, a negligent human was the cause. I'm proud of what he accomplished with motorcycles both his successful occupation as a motorcycle mechanic for BMW and his safety conscious enjoyment of motorcycles of all types. I have only ridden the Vespa 3 times on Sunday mornings around the neighborhood since I got my license. Its terrifying to drive in traffic with big vehicles and irresponsible drivers. One has to have a lot of courage. Its not for wimps.
Cameron at the track, scraping a knee, the appropriate place to go fast. He conquered his fear and honed his skills with help from his good friend, roommate and fellow rider Tad.
Major goal this year is to get this guy or just about anyone other than donald elected President.
